Quarantine in Ukrainian schools: how not to give up on the quality of education

Since mid-February this year, a number of educational institutions in Ukraine have been closed for quarantine. Only in Kyiv 119 schools are closed. The reason is an excess of the epidemic threshold of the incidence of influenza and acute viral infections by more than 20%. Corresponding letters with the recommendation to introduce quarantine are sent by city and district health departments. This situation occurs almost every year. Teachers, parents and children are already accustomed to this. The latter are even very happy about it, since this situation is a kind of additional holidays for them. Sometimes pupils even provoke a decision to transfer the school to quarantine, agreeing to simulate the incidence and not go to school. Required interest is collected and the directorate is obliged to make the appropriate decision. Even in case it is “epidemic of tricks”, it is worth reacting, since  the body’s reluctance to go to school sends a signal on exhaustion from lack of sunlight, vitamins, clean air and physical activity.
